Winemaker’s Notes - This 2021 Chardonnay comes from a Grand Cru site in the Russian River Valley. Planted in 1989, it is one of the oldest Chardonnay plantings on the Estate. The wine offers apple, citrus, classic minerality. It is balanced with richness and cleansing acidity on the palate. Layered flavors of tree ripened apple and vanilla that persist with purity, precision and length that still trend toward a richer, classic style. As with most wines from this famed vineyard, it will age beautifully for those with the patience to cellar this special wine.

Farmer’s Notes - The 2021 growing season was challenging but the wines were great. Our area was experiencing a severe drought which created an abnormally low crop. This low yield and the ideal weather created perfectly ripened fruit with natural brisk acidity. The morning fog in the Russian River Valley creates a useful cooling which helps preserve the natural acidities and aromatic flavors of the grapes. The long, even growing season allowed for a very controlled harvest and once again this vineyard has produced exceptional wine.
